Bobby Okereke, popularly known as "Broadway Bobby" is not just about football; he's got a flair for the stage as well. Bobby decided to spend his day off in New York City indulging in some Broadway razzle-dazzle with the popular "Chicago." Standing tall at 6-foot-1 and weighing 236 pounds, the linebacker impressed all with his dance moves and impressive vocal range.
"You're a natural up there on stage," said Brandon London, the host of "Players Day Off". Before playing football at Stanford, Okereke was a member of his high school choir.
"We play football, which is such a hyper-masculine, dominant sport," Okereke said. "And then for you to lean into that creative side... I get it, mental health is important."
One day, he hopes to get involved with a recording studio and pursue a career in acting.
Okereke is a first-generation Nigerian-American, born and raised in Santa Ana, California. This duality of culture is very important to him. That's why he also made a stop at Lagos, a Nigerian restaurant in Midtown Manhattan, to relish some "home cooking." One of the delicacies he tried was snail, a West African delight. After tasting it, he humorously said, "Text my momma I tried a snail."
A day in the life of Broadway Bobby, where football, Broadway, and a taste of home all come together in the vibrant city of New York.
